Everyone who visits the shop knows Sedona. She’s our official greeter and shameless gwitchie gettin’ love mutt. Her hobbies include laying about the shop in a myriad of fetching poses, sauntering from customer to customer for simple recognition and a love pat or two, and laying on the sunny stoop for the amusement of passers-by.
Sedona came to our family during a visit to Pet Smart one day in December 2002. We went there to buy gifts for our two cats, Noopy and Crow, and our parrot, BirdBird. A local animal rescue organization was on site offering several dogs for adoption. One look at this dog, however, and it was all over. Those big brown eyes grabbed us, she selected us as her own, and home with us she came.
Now customers bring doggie biscuits galore and come to the shop just to see Sedona. To say thanks, she would to share with you the following animal-friendly web sites.
Pigs, a local sanctuary for abused, neglected and rescued animals of the porcine persuasion.
Whole Dog Journal, one of the best all ’round dog publications on the planet!
Lab Rescue, a great site for adopting lovable labs.
Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County, a no-kill shelter that provides medical care, spay-neuter and adoption services to over 400 animals each year.
The Hunger Site. Just one click of a button from this amazing site will provide food and care for rescued animals. Select the “Animal Rescue” tab to help our animal friends, or one of their other tabs to provide food for hungry humans, or funds for breast cancer research, child health, literacy or saving our rain forests. Bookmark it and click every day! It costs you nothing and benefits so many earthly beings.
